The festival of festivals as it is also called, the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland is one of the most fascinating and vibrant tribal festivals you will ever see and is celebrated every year from the 1st December to the 10th of December. The Nagas from all the major 18 tribes and many other sub-tribes come together for 10 days to do what we the people from the North East do best, celebrate. And it is one celebration which you, if you are interested in knowing different ways of life, tribal cultures and heritage, just cannot miss.
Trip To Hornbill Festival and To The Headhunter Village of Longwa in Mon District

Meet and Greet in Guwahati Railway Station and catch our train to Dimapur at around midnight.
Day 2 – 02-12-2017 – Saturday
Early morning drive from Dimapur railway station to Kohima. Checking, freshen up and then head to the Hornbill Festival Grounds in Kisama village. Overnight in Kohima.
Day 3 – 03-12-2017 – Sunday
Full day at the Hornbill Festival ground. From the festivities to the traditional costumes, to the festivities to various exciting and unique competitions and not to forget, the local delicacies. And if you are a non-vegetarian, it will be one of the best food-paradise you would have ever been to.
Day 4 – 04-12-2017 – Monday
After breakfast, proceed for a guided tour of Kohima which will cover the state Museum, WWII Cemetery and the famous Kohima Cathedral. Later, drive to Khonoma, the first green village in India. In the village, visit the Morungs, age group houses, forts and ceremonial gates. Time permitting, we will also visit the Jakhama village.
Day 5 – 05-12-2017 – Tuesday
Today we start our journey deep inside Nagaland and head to Mokokchung, a picturesque town which is the cultural center of the Ao tribes. We stop at Wokha village en route and also make multiple stops to appreciate and capture the vistas en route.
Day 6 – 06-12-2017 – Tuesday
Full day for exploring Mokokchung and around and catching up on some much-needed rest.
Day 7 – 07-12-2017 – Wednesday
Early morning drive to Longwa, the village of the last headhunters alive. We stop by at Mon en route. Settle down in our Naga homestay in the village and take a relaxed walk.
Day 8 – 08-12-2017 – Thursday
Take a guided walk in and around the Longwa village. Listen to the headhunters’ stories from yesteryears. Visit the Angh’s (King of Longwa) house whose jurisdiction spreads up to the Naga villages across the border in Myanmar too. Enjoy watching the villagers go by with their daily life, at their own pace and marvel at the simplicity that you see all around you.
Day 8 – 08-12-2017 – Friday
Start early for Jorhat and catch the overnight train to Guwahati.
Day 9 – 09-12-2017 – Saturday
Say your goodbyes to your friends and leave for the airport to catch your respective flights. Fly out with a lifetime of memories.

- All permits as required.

- Dedicated vehicle (Xylo/Innova or similar) for the entire stay in Nagaland.
