One week Sikkim Tour Itinerary

Your detailed plan for your north east tour to the least populous state in India, which takes you to one of the most beautiful parts of Sikkim, will be as follows:

Day 1 – Bagdogra/NJP to Gangtok

Land at the Bagdogra airport in the first half of the day where you will find us waiting for you, with a welcome smile. Settle down in the vehicle and get ready for a scenic drive through the beautiful tea gardens of Bengal before starting your ascent to the hills of Sikkim. The drive will take you through a bank of River Teesta with a beautiful view of the mountains and the river. On arrival, check in to the hotel and rest. Reach your lovely stay in Gangtok by early evening and freshen up. Then, time-permitting, head out to the MG Marg, unarguably the best places to hang around in Gangtok. Have your dinner at one of the many restaurants lining both sides of MG Marg.

Day 2 – Gangtok To Changu Lake – Nathu La To Baba Mandir To Gangtok

After breakfast, there will be a full-day excursion to Tsomgo Lake. The water in this lake has been accumulated from the melting snow on the mountains located nearby. The river Lungtze Chu originates from this lake, which meets Rangpo-chu. According to history, the color of water of this lake was studied by Lamas so as to forecast the future. They believed that if the water had a dark tinge, it indicated a year full of trouble and unrest in the state. Later visit to Baba Mandir is a distinguished sightseeing place of Sikkim. This “Mandir” or shrine is dedicated to “Baba” Harbhajan Singh, who was a soldier of the Indian Army.

Day 3 – Gangtok To Lachung

If quaint & charming villages, waterfalls, and gorgeous scenery are your thing, you will love it today. The approximately 5-hour drive from Gangtok to Lachung is one of the most scenic drives in Sikkim. Stop by on the way to soak in the beauty of your surroundings, take pictures or just do nothing. There is no rush today.  The town is approximately 125 km from the capital Gangtok, and is surrounded by snow-capped mountain peaks, breathtaking waterfalls. On the way, you will visit the Butterfly waterfalls and Singik viewpoint. Overnight stay at Lachung. Having said that, do not exert yourself today, as you would be gaining more than 3000 ft today. Take things easy. Evening free to relax.

Day 4 – Lachung To Yumthang To Lachung

You will set foot in North Sikkim’s most beautiful gem today, the Yumthung valley. The less than a couple of hours drive might be a little bumpy, but the gorgeousness of this beautiful place will more than make up for it. Spend time exploring the beautiful valley and its gorgeous meadows and frothy mountain rivers. Depending upon the time of your visit (Feb-April), you might also find rhododendron flowers carpeting the meadows and the surroundings.

Yumthang Valley, a grazing pasture surrounded by the Himalayan Mountains in the North Sikkim district of Sikkim. It is at an elevation of 3,564 meters (11,800) at a distance of 150 km from the state capital Gangtok. It is popularly known as the ‘Valley of Flowers‘. Lachung is most sought after by tourist and the valley is either snow covered or the blooming Rhododendron always enhance the beauty of the place – On the way from Yumthang one may visit the famous hot spring known for its curative properties – Yumthang is a large valley surrounded by mountains where the tree line ends and the cold desert starts – In the winter months there is snow all around and the snow clad mountains adds to the beauty. Overnight stay at Lachung.

Day 5 – Lachung To Gangtok

After breakfast, we will move towards Gangtok, you can visit Tashi Viewpoint and Ganesh Tok. Evening is you are free to explore Gangtok city and primarily, MG Marg — the heart & soul of Gangtok.

Today will be a long day but a very interesting one. You will be back in Gangtok only by evening.

Day 6 – Gangtok Local Exploration

After exploring other parts of Sikkim, today’s focus will entirely be on Gangtok sightseeing. Today, you will be visiting the following places:

  • Bakthang waterfall,
  • Ranka monastery
  • Flower Exhibition Centre,
  • Handicraft Centre (closed on Sunday),
  • Banjhakri waterfalls,
  • Chorten Stupa,
  • Institute of Tibetology,
  • Rope way.

Evening free to relax.

Day 7 – Gangtok To Bagdogra

Start your day at leisure today. Maybe, take a relaxed walk around before slowly pulling yourself into your vehicle for your journey back to Bagdogra. Drive through the beautiful valleys of Sikkim and the gorgeous tea gardens of Bengal and reach the airport.

  • A dedicated vehicle with driver cum guide for the entire trip.
  • Local guide wherever required.
  • Breakfast on all mornings from Day 2 till last day’s check-out.

Exclusions

  • Any personal/sanitary/medical expenses.
  • Nathu La visit (Costs between Rs. 3000-5000 per vehicle)
  • Any extension in the number of days staying.
  • Food and snacks.
  • Drive to Ziro point in Yumthang valley costs abour Rs. 4000/-.
  • PAP Fee for non-Indian Passport Holders
  • Parking Fee
  • Anything that is not mentioned in the inclusions section above.
  • 5% GST.

Cancellation & Refund

  • 50% cancellation charge until 45 days before the start of the trip.
  • In case we cancel the trip for any unavoidable reason, we will refund 100% of the payment made to us. We will not be liable to pay any expenses the guest might have incurred (train tickets, flight tickets, etc.) to reach the starting point of the trip, Guwahati airport in this case.
  • Prices are subject to change without prior notice, based upon the costing of variables of the trip logistics.
  • Any govt. fee or Tax paid to us is non-refundable
