Day 1: Guwahati To Shillong via Umiam Lake

As you ascend to Meghalaya, you will notice the scenery around you change rapidly. In fact, in your 3 Nights 4 Days Meghalaya tour, you will see this almost on a daily basis as you travel from one part of Meghalaya to another.

The first stop today will be at the beautiful Umium Lake. Enjoy this serene place under gorgeous skies at your own pace. If you wish to go on a boat ride on Umiam Lake, feel free. However, boating at Umiam Lake is not included, but you can always pay there directly and enjoy the same.

From there, resume your journey to Shillong and by late afternoon, check in to your lovely Khasi homestay tucked away on a hill off the city center/not very far from the city center. Evening free to relax and explore.

Finish your day with an authentic Khasi dinner in Police Bazar or at your homestay.

Day 3: Cherrapunjee To Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek and Back

Wake up early, be done with your breakfast at your homestay in Cherrapunjee, fill your water bottle, and get ready to walk!

Like many other treks in Meghalaya, a trek to the double-decker living root bridges of Nongriat is an experience like no other. The journey is as good as the destination, as they say. You will walk through lush green vegetation, and tiny Khasi villages hidden deep in the hills, and stroll through hanging bridges, some new and some old.

Pristine, emerald water-bodies will keep you company almost all through your walk. If you enjoy swimming, do not forget to bring your swimwear with you, you will need it when you find the kid inside you unable to hold back from jumping in the turquoise-blue natural pools.

By the time you are back, you will be tired but your heart & mind will be happy! Evening free to relax.

Today, explore more of Cherrapunjee. Visit places like the Garden of Caves, the Arwah Caves, and the Seven Sister Waterfalls, to name a few. Then, from there, drive to the India – Bangladesh border where the two countries are divided by a natural border, the Umngkot River.

Asia's Cleanest Village - Mawlynnong | 3 Nights 4 Days Meghalaya Tour

Go on a boat ride on the transparent waters of the Umgkot River (the river remains muddy in the monsoons/on rainy days). You can visit the ziro point, where both countries meet, and can also interact with people from the neighboring country.

From there, head back for a bit and take the diversion towards Asia’s cleanest village, Mawlynnong. On your way to Mawlynnong, stop by the village of Riwai to take a quick hike to the single-decker living root bridge.

Night stay in the Mawlynnong village.

Day 4: Cherrapunjee To Guwahati via Dawki / Mawlynnong To Guwahati

On the last day of your trip, check out from your homestay after breakfast and drive straight to the Dawki to witness the crystal clear waters of the Umngkot River at Dawki (this is not possible during the monsoon season as the water is muddy). You can go boating (not included) on the river and boat to Ziro Point, where India and Bangladesh meet.

From there drive down straight to Guwahati to catch your flight back home :-).
