Day 1 – Guwahati to Shillong
Get received by North East Explorers’ representative at the airport and start your journey to Shillong. Enjoy the beautiful drive from the plains of Assam to the hills of Meghalaya. Stop by Umium Lake to enjoy the beauty of this serene place under gorgeous skies.
You can either head straight to the festival venue or check in to your hotel/homestay, freshen – up and then proceed to the festival venue (if your dates match with the festival dates). We would suggest do visit the fest venue first but take it as you please. You can also choose to visit Ward’s lake which looks gorgeous with its cherry trees. Later, you can either choose to visit the market and have your dinner there or head to your hotel to rest after a long day.
Day 2 – Shillong – Cherry blossoms
Pay a visit to the Don Bosco Cathedral.
Visit Ward’s lake to see some more of the Cherry blossoms while taking a calm boat ride (not included) in the lake. You can also enjoy beautiful cherry blossoms at the Shillong golf course.
In the evening, walk down to the city center at Police Bazar and stroll the daily markets.
Day 3 – Shillong to Cherrapunjee
Today we start our journey to the rainiest place in the world, Cherrapunjee, deeper in the Khasi hills & towards the more gorgeous parts of Meghalaya. Today’s journey is full of places to see but most importantly, do not forget to enjoy the beautiful cherry trees on the way, as you leave Shillong. Feel free to stop by to enjoy them at your own pace and take pictures.
Time permitting, by the end of the day, you would have visited the following places:
- Elephant falls.
- Mawkdok Viewpoint.
- Wha Kaba falls.
- Arwah Caves.
- Nonkalikhai Falls.
- Mawsmai Caves.
For the night, check in to your lovely stay off Cherrapunjee and in the lap of nature.
**November – February is the dry season so waterfalls are not generally at their best but the caves are great and natural pools are crystal clear.
Day 4 – Cherrapunjee to Mawlynnong
Leave for Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village. Enjoy the beautiful drive from one ridge to another, overlooking lush green hills and deep cloud-covered valleys. Visit the Living Root Bridge, on your way to Mawlynnong. You might also want to visit the balancing rock on your way, a huge flat rock sitting perfectly balanced on a tiny rock, for centuries.
Check-in into a beautiful and spacious homestay overlooking the Bangladesh plains beyond a valley below.
Enjoy the view of Bangladesh plains from the terrace of your homestay or the treehouse nearby.
Day 5 – Mawlynnong to Guwahati via Dawki
Start early for Dawki/Shnongpedeng. Take a relaxed boat ride on one of the most transparent rivers you would probably have ever seen. Drive down to the Tamabil BOP and shake hands/interact with the jawans of Bangladesh Rifles. Drive to Guwahati to catch your flight back home.
