Things to keep in mind when traveling to Mizoram’s interiors
- Be respectful: When traveling in/to the remote areas of Mizoram and engaging in thrilling adventure activities, don’t forget to always respect the God of nature, along with the rich customs and traditions of the Mizo Tribe (or any indigenous community). This is paramount. Approach these regions with sensitivity, cultural awareness, and deep respect for both the environment and the people who call it home. By doing so, you’ll ensure a positive and harmonious experience for yourself, the local community, and the stunning natural surroundings 🙂
- Long distances -While you’ll be traveling in a four-wheeler, don’t expect a quick trip. The destinations may seem close on the map, but the rugged terrain and winding hills turn the ride into a longer, yet thrilling adventure.
- Limited Commercial facilities – Since this is an untouched and remote area, don’t expect the usual commercial amenities like frequent chai (tea) and momo (dumpling) stops that you’d find on the mainland. There will be a few spots with limited choices, but the true focus of this journey is immersing yourself in nature rather than convenience.
- Accommodations – When we journey to remote places with a spirit of exploration, we prioritize cleanliness and hygiene over luxury due to limited options. Our focus is on basic amenities like hot water, clean sheets, a comfortable bed, and warm hospitality.
- Simple cuisine – You’ll have the option of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals at our stops. While our cook will strive to provide delicious and satisfying meals, it’s important to remember that resources and facilities are limited. Don’t expect extravagant cuisine; instead, appreciate the hearty sustenance that will keep you energized throughout your adventure.
- Home-cooked meals – The cook may not be a professional chef but will prepare meals to the best of their abilities. Adjust your expectations accordingly and appreciate their efforts in providing nourishing food in a challenging environment.
- Team-work and support – The entire team will work together to ensure a successful experience. Expect support and assistance from our fellow team members, guides, drivers, and support staff throughout the journey.
