After resting for some time start your local Imphal tour with a tour of the historic Kangla Fort. Immerse yourself in stories of Manipur’s rich culture, history, religion, and its people, as your local guide explains these to you.

Also visit Slim Cottage – the erstwhile residence of WWII-time commander of the British forces, General (later Field Marshal) William Slim.

In the evening, take part in the aarti puja at the Govindajee temple, the main Vaishnavite temple of Manipur.

Overnight in Imphal

Also, try a traditional Manipuri lunch on this day. End your day with a short hike to reach the hilltop viewpoints at Cheirao-Ching to capture views of the beautiful sunset over Imphal Valley. This is the only place from where you can get a bird’s eye view of Imphal City and the surrounding areas.

Day 3 – On the Road to Burma Tour

Heading Southeast of Imphal, along the historic Palel-Tamu Road, this tour brings you the story of where India meets Burma/ Myanmar or South Asia meets Southeast Asia. Besides all the stories of WWII actions on this road, hear the thrilling stories of one of the most under-explored yet exciting international borders of India. On the way, visit the Anglo-Manipur War Memorial at Khongjom to learn about the 1891 conflict between the British and Manipuri Army. You will also get to see the WWII-era Palel airfield from the beautiful Kakching garden.

This tour also includes a visit to the Indian National Army (INA) Memorial Complex where men of the INA hoisted the INA tricolor flag at India’s doorstep in 1944.
