Wari Chora Tour
[3 Days]

Wari Chora Tour Plan [3 Days]

A Wari Chora tour isn’t for everyone. It’s for those who enjoy the thrill of the journey — trekking along rugged paths, staying in the simplest of shelters, and letting go of modern comforts like electricity and mobile networks. But don’t let that put you off. Trust us — what you get in return is pure magic. The raw beauty of nature here makes every little discomfort feel more than worth it.

Wari Chora Tour Plan Itinerary [3 Days]

  • Day 1: Guwahati/Shillong To Siju/Baghmara/Emangre
  • Day 2: Siju/Baghmara/Emangre To Wari Chora – River Trail & Exploration
  • Day 3: Siju/Baghmara/Emangre → Guwahati/Shillong

Day 1: Guwahati/Shillong To Siju/Baghmara/Emangre

Starting from Guwahati or Shillong and heading towards Wari Chora, this journey takes you deep into the Garo Hills, through remote villages and rugged terrain. And unlike most of our Meghalaya Tours, this first day itself is going to be a long one. Not so great roads either. But the scenery around will make up for the bumpy ride.

Time-permitting, take a quick detour to visit the Siju caves and the Rongchang rock formation, before heading to your stay.

Check in at a basic guesthouse or eco-homestay in Siju/Baghmara or Emangre. You might or might not have power for the night, so call it a day early. Tomorrow will be an early start.

Day 2: Siju/Baghmara/Emangre To Wari Chora – River Trail & Exploration

After a quick, early morning breakfast, hop into your 4×4, local vehicle that will take you to the Wari Chora entry point. It will be an hour or two long, a bumpy drive through some of the Garo hills’ most beautiful terrain.

You will meet your guide here and will begin your trek down the gorgeous river gorge that has been all over your Instagram feed. To reach, you will have to make your way through forested slopes, bamboo bridges, and rocky paths.

No doubt it will be tiring, but once you reach your destination, we promise, you will be wowed!

Take a country boat ride through the stunning narrow gorge of Wari Chora. The river is crystal clear (not if it has rained), with towering cliffs and dense greenery — it feels like stepping into a lost world.

You can also, on prior request, arrange for a riverside packed lunch or picnic.

Once done with your boat-ride, start your kike back up slowly — it’s a bit steep in parts. Take the bumpy ride back to your stay and freshen up. Enjoy a simple, local dinner and maybe spend some time chatting with your hosts.

You are sure to retire early after a tiring day like this.

Day 3: Siju/Baghmara/Emangre → Guwahati/Shillong

Start your day by visiting the Siju Cave – one of the longest limestone caves in India, if you did not visit it on Day 1. There’s also an interesting Fish sanctuary, the Jadisil Fish Sanctuary, which makes for a good visit.

Once done with these, start your return journey to Guwahati or Shillong, as applicable.
