Rajiv put together an itinerary that balanced the energy of the festival with the quieter, more remote stretches of Arunachal beautifully. The logistics across some genuinely challenging terrain were handled seamlessly — vehicles, permits, accommodations, local guides — none of it ever felt rushed or chaotic. These would have been nearly impossible to
pull off on my own.

What stood out most was Rajiv’s deep knowledge of the region and his connections with the local communities. We got access and cultural insight that no standard tour would offer. When I felt unwell during the Nagaland leg, he went out of his way to track down a local doctor for me — a small thing on paper, but in a remote part of the country it meant a lot, and it told me everything about how he runs his trips.
Highly recommend Northeast Explorers for anyone considering this part of India. Rajiv is the real deal. Thank you for an amazing two weeks.

  A visit to the Tribes of northeast  - Northeast explorers(NEE) has been our gateway to the beautiful northeast India and this was our third rewarding trip with NEE. We did meghalaya with NEE 4 years ago, then did... read more their Arunachal Tawang circuit 2 years ago and this time embarked on their tribal circuit across the 3 states-Arunachal, Assam and Nagaland. The tour was very memorable and rewarding winding through the landscapes, culture, local homestays. Rajeev arranged for the perfect local homestays and local guides and structured our tour paced over multiple days at one location to soak in the splendor of each place. The homestay hosts and guides became good friends difficult to bid farewell to. Each of the places- ziro, majuli and mon left us entranced. We cannot thank enough our tour driver Jameer ali who has been with us in all our 3 NEE trips and has made our journeys comfortable and fun with his knowledge of local food and the in roads of the region.

We put together a whole month of exploring - Assam, Meghalaya, Majuli, Bhutan and Sikkim, with many other exciting stops along the way. Rajiv was super-helpful and informative, and we ended up with a brilliant, customised itinerary. From there, everything went like clockwork. NEX arranged permits, did all the bookings, arranged drivers, and kept us informed every step of the way. As 60+ year old travellers, there were times when our bodies couldn't keep up with the plans our hearts had come up with - none of that was a problem to Rajiv, and he cheerfully rearranged things as we went, keeping us up to date on every change. He was in touch at every step of the journey, checking that we were happy, that the drivers and tour guides were what we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble, and it meant that the whole experience was just fantastic.

I would honestly say that if you want to experience the North East of India in an authentic way, meeting lots of local people, and getting a real insight into the culture, history, wildlife and lifestyle of the regions, then you cannot do better than Rajiv and team. As a pair of English travellers, we would never have been able to replicate the incredible time that Rajiv arranged for us on our own.

Right from receiving us at the airport throughout the entire trip it was well... read more organised. The vehicles were in good condition n drivers drove safely. One of us had to leave suddenly and they obliged our request and dropped safely at the airport driving almost the whole night . Zewa cottages where we stayed at bishum pudung had a beautiful serene peaceful location on the bank of a flowing river stream. Our trek lead lobsang n his team were good . We had a rustic experience during overnight camping. All in all it was a great time spent with friends amidst tranquil nature. Thanks to northeast explorers. Long story short, it was an amazing experience. We visited Dirang, Tawang, Bomdila, Itanagar and Ziro. Right from our pickup at Guwahati airport till drop at Itanagar airport, everything went smooth and as planned. The route, stay, food planning was absolutely fantastic.

A special mention about the vehicle and driver. We had an innova crysta driven by Jamir Ali. He was a polite driver with excellent driving etiquette. Always on time, always safe and responsible driving, which is a must in hilly terrains of north east.

We have plans to visit again some time to visit remaining 7 sisters and needless to say, we have already chosen our partner for that trip.

Though this was the year end vation peak season, our tour drive Dileep managed to squeeze us into each location across all days just before peak rush our and we got to enjoy the venues.

We also loved the home stays. Special call out to Janti da in Seuj Nivas, Kaziranga and Lydia from Casa Enchanto, Shillong for the great hospitality.

Each state, Nagaland and Meghalaya took our breath away with their breath taking natural beauty, amazing culture and lovely, friendly people.

Assam as the gateway with its ancient culture and temples, with the powerful maa kamakhya temple and its amazing cuisine was unforgettable.
