Day 1: Land at Arrival
Arrive at Agartala Airport and check into your hotel. If you arrive early, stretch your legs at Heritage Park or explore the local market for your first glimpse of Tripura’s easy rhythm.
Overnight in Agartala.
Day 2: Agartala and Indo-Bangladesh Border Ceremony
After breakfast, explore Agartala’s royal heritage, the Ujjayanta Palace, now the Tripura State Museum, and Venuban Buddha Vihar. In the afternoon, drive to Belonia (around 2 hours) near the Indo-Bangladesh border to witness the flag-lowering ceremony between the two nations, a moving, friendly version of Wagah with a genuine sense of camaraderie. Return to Agartala by evening.

Day 3: Udaipur and Neermahal
Drive to Udaipur, a lake town filled with temples and local legends. Visit the sacred Tripureswari Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, and enjoy a short boat ride to Neermahal, the elegant palace in the middle of Rudrasagar Lake, back to Agartala by evening.

Day 4: Agartala To Unakoti To Silchar
Leave early for a scenic drive to Unakoti, an ancient site where gigantic rock carvings of Lord Shiva and deities rest in forested hills, one of the most intriguing archaeological spots in Northeast India. After exploring, continue toward Aizawl, Mizoram’s hilltop capital, arriving by evening. After visiting Unakoti, continue your journey toward Silchar through forested hills and tea gardens. Reach by evening and rest for the night; this is a simple transit halt before entering Mizoram.

Day 5: Silchar To Aizawl
After breakfast, continue the scenic drive from Silchar to Aizawl, crossing winding mountain roads and villages that mark the entry into Mizoram.
Arrive by evening and settle in for a relaxed night in the Mizo capital.

Day 6: Aizawl
Spend the day exploring Aizawl’s calm and layered charm. Visit the Mizoram State Museum, Solomon’s Temple, and the Durtlang Hills for sweeping views of the city.
Later, walk through Bara Bazar, where locals sell woven shawls, bamboo baskets, and handmade goods. Time permitting, visit the Skywalk.
Overnight in Aizawl.
Day 7: Aizawl To Reiek
After breakfast, drive to Reiek, about 1.5 hours away. Trek up Reiek Peak for views that stretch across the hills and plains of Bangladesh on a clear day. Visit the Mizo Heritage Village, a replica of a traditional Mizo settlement, and unwind by a bonfire (optional) in the evening.
Overnight in Reiek.
Day 8: Reiek To Hmuifang and Thenzawl
Head south towards Hmuifang, where forested slopes open into green meadows, great for short walks through undisturbed nature. Continue to Thenzawl, Mizoram’s weaving hub and home to two of the state’s most striking waterfalls, Vantawng and Tuirihiau.
Overnight in Thenzawl.
Day 9: Departure from Aizawl
After breakfast, drive back to Aizawl Airport for your onward journey — carrying with you glimpses of royal palaces, rock sculptures, and highland serenity.
Note:
- On the last day, early morning start. Book late flight. Thenzawl to the airport is 6+ hours.
- The above itinerary is a possible plan and not hard and fast. What you will actually do will ultimately depend on the ground situations.
- The border ceremony is friendly and low-key; photography is usually permitted.
- Roads between states are winding and not always great, but scenic. Start early to make the most of the daylight.
