This was our first trip to Northeast India, and we are so glad that we chose North East Explorers (NEE)... read more for our Meghalaya trip. From the very beginning, the entire trip was thoughtfully planned and well organised, making it a truly hassle-free experience for us.

The itinerary was excellent and covered some amazing places, while still allowing a little flexibility depending on our preferences and the activities we wanted to explore. The car provided was comfortable, and a special mention to our driver, Apu, who was not just an excellent driver but also a great guide. He was extremely helpful, caring, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the journey.

The stays were nice, clean, and added to the overall experience. One thing to keep in mind is that these are primarily homestays rather than luxury hotels — but that is actually part of what makes the experience special, as you get a much more authentic feel of the region and its people. If you prefer hotels, you can always opt for hotel stays in places like Shillong and Guwahati.

A special shout-out to Rajiv, who stayed in touch with us throughout the trip and constantly checked to make sure everything was going smoothly. What really stood out was the personal touch — he made the effort to meet us on the last day, which we genuinely appreciated. It was a lovely gesture and reflected how personally NEE takes care of its guests.

Overall, North East Explorers made our first Northeast trip memorable, comfortable, and stress-free. We would highly recommend Rajiv and his team to anyone planning to explore this beautiful part of India.

NEE Excellently managed travel route, the stopovers, the stays, the sightseeing points all along the route and at all places in the 3 NE states of india.

NEE founder and director Mr. Rajiv, suggested us the all the options and after understanding our needs and requirements, recommended us a very good iternery covering the 3 NE states. As mentioned, it was one of best managed,beautifully programmed tour ..thank you Rajiv.

We could sense and see the passionate planning and very compassionate and very well coordinated tour by Rajiv. He arranged us appropriate vehicle, with a very experienced driver, and right from the start of our tour to the end, Mr. Rajiv made sure that everything is perfectly coordinated ..the stops on the road for tea and food breaks ..the hotels for overnight stays, all the must see viewpoint on the drive, all spots on the way and some very scenic roads .. all executed to perfection by Rajiv.

For our Homestay- hotel , Rajiv chose the best ..best location, best rooms, best services in the homestays-Hot3ls . and every hotel we stayed, we were treated extra nicely ..all the hotels we stayed, the owners knew and respected Rajiv personally. Hence every guest of Rajiv gets a bit extra attention

About Rajiv, he is very simple, honest, friendly, kind hearted, loving, passionate person, who leave his American job( American dream) to follow his passions ..that is- to serve his own country .India and his homeland the north Esat. from the entire tour of ours, we coud see, feel and sense his passion, his love and his care although begin an IT geniuses, he is pursing his passion ..serving his homeland ..encouraging tourism

With Yogi sorting out everything for me. So I did the week long Bhutan tour. Overall it was well organized with guide and driver always there. The schedule was neither too busy nor too relaxed- just about right!; allowing me time to settle and acclimatize myself . I had a good and memorable time! The homestays collection is great but we thought it could benefit from a few premium options. Nonetheless, the homestays are very accommodating and supportive and it is amazing to live with them and learn their ways.

Rajiv put together an itinerary that balanced the energy of the festival with the quieter, more remote stretches of Arunachal beautifully. The logistics across some genuinely challenging terrain were handled seamlessly — vehicles, permits, accommodations, local guides — none of it ever felt rushed or chaotic. These would have been nearly impossible to
pull off on my own.

What stood out most was Rajiv’s deep knowledge of the region and his connections with the local communities. We got access and cultural insight that no standard tour would offer. When I felt unwell during the Nagaland leg, he went out of his way to track down a local doctor for me — a small thing on paper, but in a remote part of the country it meant a lot, and it told me everything about how he runs his trips.
