First time back after 13 years and inclusion of the festival fully guided made for a very enjoyable trip. Thanks Rajiv. - Booked Myoko festival with Rajiv at a late date but a plan was formulated including my preference to be hotel based rather than home stay which was appreciated. To be... read more honest 4 days for the festival was stretching it somewhat but the inclusion of various points of interest around Ziro coupled with guided tours of outlying villages made the trip worthwhile so thanks to Rajiv and the local guides.
First day was a guided social occasion visiting various households where we were always made welcome with plenty of food and hooch on offer but the big event was day 2 which involved a crack of dawn start to witness the soon to be sacrificed hogs being blessed first by priests then by fabulously adorned ladies of Ziro after which the hogs were dispatched to the various owners homes to meet their end after being blessed once more by the priest. The manner in which these beasts are despatched is not for me to criticise but for this ardent traveller no need to be witnessed a second time.
Next day was taking in the various sights and visiting of villages which for the most part were exactly as I recall when I was last in Ziro in 2012. One tip make sure to include the museum in town when visiting as some excellent exhibits of display, entrance free.

A truly memorable and fantastic tour of Bhutan - We (my daughter and myself) had a very pleasant and memorable trip to Bhutan ( Pheuntsholing, Thimpu, Punakha and Paro) recently. We would certainly like to come back to NEE for another memorable trip with them.

Impressive tour provided by a supportive tour organizer - One of our most intensive trips we had so far. We booked the 7 days in Meghalaya tour from North East Explorers which guided us to such beautiful places ... read more with impressive view and also allowed us to meet wonderful and also impressive people. It already started with the communication with NE Explorers. Rajiv perfectly supported us from the very beginning, answered all of our questions and finally got us the tailored tour. Our guide Ricky who not only drove us through Assam and Meghgalaya answered all of our questions and made us learning so much about the region and its citizens. We appreciated the flexibility on switching destinations whenever it made sense or add a new target in the region.
The Homestays we spent our nights at were other places to meet friendly and supportive people (and believe me, it was necessary due to some personal issues). And all of them were authentic, clean and spacy stays.
To cut a long story short NE Explorers to me is a clear recommendation when it's about travelling Meghalaya and Assam. I really hope once to have another chance to explore more of this interesting and beautiful region of India.

Exploring Assam and Arunachal Pradesh off the beaten tracks with excellent local guides - We were a group of friends, 6 Germans average 70 years of age and we took part in a 20 day trip organized by North East Explorers in Assam and... read more Arunachal Pradesh. We spent several days each at Kaziranga NP, Majuli Island, Bomdila, Tewang and near Dirang, where we did overnight camping in tents and took part in several spectacular jungle walks. Towards the end of the trip we spent 3 days at 3 very pleasant bamboo cottages near Nameri NP. Our driver and the local guides took very good care of us and the food at small local restaurants was delicious and moderately priced. There was ample opportunity for photographs of birds, monkeys and the impressive vegetation. All in all it was a very pleasant and unforgettable experience.

Meghalaya & Kazhiranga - 8 day Rejuvenating Experience - We had never visited the North Eastern region in the past, so we didn’t know what/how/wheres of it. With some googling and based on reviews, we reached out to Northeast... read more Explorers and we got a custom itinerary scheduled for us. The plan was for the 3 of us (me, my wife and my 7-yr old son). I spoke to Rajiv Verma over phone (who runs the Northeast Explorers company). He was always available to clarify any questions (like getting Vegetarian food, safari details, things that we hear from friends and relatives, issues near Indo-Bangladesh border, etc). He patiently clarified all questions. We also had a flight delay due to which there had to be some last minute changes had to be done to our plans, which was not a problem at all.
We were picked up from Guwahati airport and dropped back there at the end of the 8 days trip. The entire arrangement and itinerary was perfect and awesome. We had to stay in 5 different homestays during this trip, and all of them were really good. Nothing fancy, but simple, clean, hygienic (food and stay) and comfortable.
Our driver and guide, Apu, was really sweet, helpful and informative. He is a local of Meghalaya. He took us to the all touristy places and also some of the places which only the locals know. The time at which he took us to those places was also perfect. We avoided the majority of tourist crowds, and were able to enjoy the beautiful place with peace. We covered almost all the majority attractions in Meghalaya, but it definitely calls for another trip where we can spend some more time in each of those places. We explored Shillong (in and around), Sohra (Cherrapunji), root bridges, caves, Mawlynnong (cleanest village in Asia) and also Dawki (crystal clear lake water boating).
The best part was the safaris in Kazhiranga (both elephant and jeep safari). We got to do the pre-dawn elephant safari. It is the best time for the safari, we enjoyed the fresh morning air, sun just dawning from behind the mountains, animals out in the morning. The skies were beautiful with the twilight colors. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.
Also, Rajiv met us before we headed to the airport and gave us some Assam tea powder and a chocolate bar for my son, which showed personal care and a feel good factor.
I would highly recommend Northeast Explorers to anyone who is planning to travel to North Eastern India. They know the places in and out and are very safe to travel with the family in unfamiliar territories.
